Cpu(fx 8350) goes to 70C in 3 minutes please help

So yesterday i was overclocking mi cpu got it to 4400 no voltage increase it took like 10 minutes on prime95 to get to 65C . So i said let me change the thermal paste to see if i can get a bit higher on overclocking so i changed it and now it i lowered the clock speed to 4100 and i get 70C in 3 minutes on prime95.

i thought i put too much themal paste on the cpu so i did it again reduced the amount and it stated to be a bit more stable but still goes to 70C in 5 minutes. idle temp is 26C

my cpu cooler is a cooler master nepton 240m
Cpu: fx8350
mobo: GA-990FXA-UD7
GPU: gtx 970
case: nzxt h440

Yeah both should have been sufficient to avoid bubbles, odd. Only thing I can think of is your PC needs to break the new thermal paste in. How long had the old paste been in place. It can take some compounds 200 hours of PC on time to reach prime cooling threshold. Some will drop by as much as 8C or more but besides that I am clueless. You heat sink is snug, you did multiple applications...yeah just give it a few days and see if your temps drop. They are not unreasonably high now but I can see why your concerned with a 5C increase.

I am honestly not seeing the problem with your original temps but clearly something changed. How did you apply the thermal paste? Did you apply the paste using the rice grain or X technique or something else all together? I have the most luck using the rice grain but know many folks who prefer the X. If you spread it our all over the IHS that can cause air bubbles and temps issues. Back when there was no IHS it was typical to cover the whole CPU die but the area was much smaller and air bubble less an issue. Point being techniques have changed over the years. Anyways LMK how you applied it.

65°c with prime at 4400mhz is crap, really....you shoudn't even reach those temps at 4400. I reach those with 4800, so something is definetely to be changed or checked
