Hi, I have just built my first Quiet PC. It's my fourth build, but my first Quiet PC and first PC generally in a few years. The components are:

Asus Maximus VIII Ranger Z170
Intel i7-7700K
16 GB Crucial Ballistix RAM DDR4 2400 (2x8GB)
Palit GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
500GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD
Cooltek Jonsbo UMX4 case
SuperFlower Golden Silent 500W
Nofan CR95 Icepipe

It turns on and the lights come on inside. However, I'm not getting any display. I've tried the motherboard and the graphics card sockets.

Having done a little bit of web research, I think I may have a problem with my choice of motherboard. I've gone for the Asus Maximus Ranger VIII (a Z170) and a Kaby Lake processor (i7 7700k).

Are these incompatible? I had understood the Ranger VIII to have flashback but without being able to see anything, I cannot see how I can update it?

I've checked the whole build and cannot see that I have done anything wrong and can only see this as the problem, but I may be missing something?

What would be the best way of resolving this? I could switch the motherboard but that would take risks with my other components. I have a NOFAN that I need this system to be compaible with and it is huge.

Would a G4400 Skylake suffice? I can get one for £50 and resell it fairly easily, however if I am missing something obvious, I'd rather know and go down the right path.

Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Just use USB bios flashback to update the bios. It does not require a cpu to use just power and a usb key. You lucked out and got one of the few boards that support such a feature. More information on how to use it is on page 2-12 of the motherboards manual.
Hello... On first Boot of a New intel MB/BIO's... the CPU/IGT and MB video connectors will be active first (Intel® HD Graphics 630)... try removing the Video card and connecting to the MB Video connectors for a BOOT and display... also make sure your Monitor input is set for the Cable type you are using too.

Unfortunately, you're spot on. Any 1 series motherboard (Z170, H110M, B150) will work with a Skylake Chip, but not Kabylake. Everything else seems to be fine.

Why would you get a G4400 and resell? Display still won't work once its gone again.... Best option would be to update your BIOS (Either look it up on youtube or send it to the manufacturer) or you can buy another motherboard. It won't be anything sexy and it won't be very cheap, but its the best option that you have :(
