Will this USB Adapter work for WiFi on a laptop?

So the problem is I have an old laptop an HP Pavillion Dv6. I think its the same as this one, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03127146

I took out the network card so I can replace it but now it keeps getting this error 104 wireless network device not supported...

I tried puting the one it came with and it keeps saying that error 104 too.

I wanted to know if the above usb wireless adapter will work to get wifi.

Im new to using these types of devices but I also wanted to know if you need the network card it came with fore the usb wireless adapter to work.

you can remove it and connect the new one, if windows doesn't install the drivers for you or already has them, you can download them from internet, the brand you choose must offer them

in my case, linux and windows recognized it automatically, with that nano adapter, but as i said, you must choose the brand an size that better fits your need in terms of size, price and quality

why it wouldn't work? if there is drivers for windows, it should work

but that is a really big adapter

i bought this one a couple months ago

works well on linux and windows, the signal strength is not great but it works

consider buying a smaller or nano wifi, doesn't have to be tplink, but smaller is good whn connected to one of your usb ports on your laptop if you use it like me, on the bed so space and size to avoid tearing laptop or adapter apart

about the error 104, try to remove the card, clean the slot and insert it again, put the two antennas, the black and the white properly and use the screw properly and try again, shouldn't be that picky with such simple modification that laptop

Will I need the network card that it came with inside the laptop or are usb wireless adapters work on their own like you dont need anything else and just plug and play aside from getting the drivers.
I will be using it with a windows 10 OS
