What should I buy within the next three months?
Right now I'm pretty sure the i5 will beat it out but with the extra 4 threads, it will future proof me more. I own a 144hz monitor. wccftech showed a r7 that disabled 4 cores and disabled some of the cache and showed these results:
http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-4-core-benchmarks-intel-core-i7-7700k/
also note that the 7700k was underclocked to match the amd clock speeds

Bang for buck I would wait for an R5. I have been seeing this in a lot in threads lately. Simple fact was prior to Ryzen launch 2C/4T was rock bottom entry level for gaming, 4C/4T was low end to mid range, 4C/8T was upper midrange, 6C/12T-10C/20T was high end. With the launch of Ryzen this is all changing. By late fall 4C/4T will be rock bottom entry level, 4C/8T low to midrange, 6C/12T upper midrange, 8C/16T-10C/20T will be the high end. Point being I think your smart leaning towards the R5 1500X with 4C/8T over an i5 build. It will be far more future proof. BF1, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Watch Dogs 2 can all eat every thread you throw their way. I see complaints about these games all the time, especially BF1 in multiplayer...

there is no date yet for the r3 or r5, no prices either, but i expect it to be fast and cheap, but without units to review, it is pure speculation from my part

if you have to wait until that date, 3 months from now, try to get a r7 1700 or a i7 and don't hold your breath on the r5 release

I recommend you try to do the research yourself when Ryzen 5 comes out, I recommend http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/ to see which one is more powerful.
In my opinion, the Ryzen 5 might be more powerful since it would be a newer release than the 7500.

Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if next year this time 4C/8T models become the bare minimum for gaming. Time will tell but certainly 4C/4T for gaming is losing it's luster.

R5s are set for may or june launch. While the exact date is not yet known the release window is.

recent leaks have been very accurate, so that may or june sounds very logical, the price is logical too, perhaps could be 20 dollars lower

but you will have problems getting your r5 because people will buy them fast

right now amd is hot and everybody wants to try and use am4 platform so get a cou in june will be fun, fun as in "i can't find them, they are out of stock"
