Hello, i'm kind of new to computers, i have been having issues lately with not really being able to run games and good FPS. For example, whenever i play the division it will drop down to 40 or even lower, when i play Rust i get 30 and lower, and Player Unknown's Battlegrounds i get horrible FPS, about 20-15 FPS. I have been having this issue for a while now and can't seem to figure out what is wrong. If anyone can help I would be forever thankful. :)

no, pointless wasting any significant amount of money on this dead platform

get some fans and rig them to pont at the vrm's

if that doesnt work, then underclock the cpu

are you monitoring cpu temps?

if not install amd overdrive and post back your cpu thermal margins while under load

Are you sure your 4.0Ghz is holding while gaming and not dropping? Many motherboards struggle to run 125w CPU's at high load for any length of time, the VRM'S often overheat and then throttle the CPU down to a much lower clock speed. I think that board is one that is known to have this problem.

The games you listed a either not well optimised or are CPU dependant. The 8350 isn't the strongest of CPU, especially when running on games which may only use 1-4 cores. I'd say some dips to around the 40 FPS mark especially in Rust where so many things suddenly load at once.

How would i be able to check if it stays at 4.0?

I mean i know the 8350 isnt the best but i dont really think i should be having issues with games, like for example i will get sudden frame drops all of the time in games where my pc is well over the preferred specs, such as borderlands 2.

I'm guessing your vrms are overheating and slowing down the CPU to keep it from melting the board. Those boards aren't fans of those CPUs. Take your side pannel off and aim a fan at the row of capicitors near the CPU socket see if this helps any. If it does you have your answer. Otherwise it's just the fact you have a 5 year old CPU

I am looking into getting a new mobo, this one has me really interested, do you think it would be a good addition for my 8350? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jntWGX/asus-motherboard-970progamingaura
