hey guys

i have a western digital blue 1tb hhd. my C: size is 40gb and all the rest is on D. Now i wanna add some more size to the C without formatting D cause it has alot of important data. Is there any way i could do that ?

Solution
Is there no way you could get your hands on another 1 TB HDD just to use it temporarily for maybe 10 - 15 minutes or so and then return it? (I'm assuming you could connect that drive INTERNALLY to your PC in that a vacant SATA data port (connector) on your motherboard is available; if not, then a USB external enclosure to house the 1 TB HDD or one of those SATA-to-USB adapter devices (with a A/C power adapter) would be necessary.)

The procedure would be...
1. Clone the contents of your present D: partition to the temporary 1 TB HDD.

2. After ENSURING that the destination 1 TB HDD correctly contains the cloned contents of the D: partition, delete the D: partition on your boot drive. That will leave unallocated disk-space formerly...

Open disk manager and right click on extend volume.

moking01...
There is a relatively simple & straightforward way to achieve your objective, but to do so you will need to use (temporarily) another HDD that has sufficient disk-space capacity to contain the data contents of your D: partition. This temporary HDD could be connected to your PC either internally or as a USB external HDD.

I can provide you with details, however, I would need to know the following:

1. What are the total data contents contained in your D: partition.
2. What partition size do you wish to create for your new larger C: partition?

That will leave unallocated disk-space formerly occupied by the D: partition. NOW MAKE SURE THE CLONE WAS SUCCESSFUL IN THAT THE TEMPORARY 1 TB CONTAINS ALL THE DATA CONTENTS OF THE D: PARTITION BEFORE YOU DELETE THE D: PARTITION. Capiche?

3. Then use Disk Management to extend the size of your C: partition for about 60 GB (utilizing a portion of the unallocated disk-space vacated by your D: partition.) So now your C: partition will be the size you desire.

4. Clone back the contents of the temporary 1 TB HDD to the unallocated disk-space of your boot drive (the disk-space formerly occupied by the contents of your D: partition).

5. Check that all is well with your boot drive before deleting the data or formatting the temporary 1 TB HDD.

6. Return the 1 TB (temporary) HDD to its rightful owner.
