Rx 480 4gb or the RX 480 8gb ?

My old graphics card got screwed. So I was thinking of getting a new one. I am on a low budget so I was thinking if the 8gb version is worth the extra 50$... I have seen fps tests and both cards provide pretty similar performance. Its just about future proofing now... I will be using this card for the next 2-3 years... Will I be able to play the upcoming games during this period in ultra @ 40+ fps in 1080p in the 4gb version ? Or should I somehow increase my budget and get the 8gb version ?

4gb should be fine at 40 fps 1080p. Mine does.

Few games can use 3gb at 1080p. The 4gb should be fine but its impossible to guess what you will want in 2-3 years. In the last 2-3 years the minimum for 1080p has gone from 2gb to 3gb.

The 480 4GB besides having half the VRAM also runs slower than the RX 480 8GB with a slightly lower base clock and 1750 Mhz memory clock, in comparison to the 2000 Mhz you get on the 8GB.

Still enough for 60 fps most of the time.

Correction - both cards have the same base clock. Memory bandwidth is the difference. With good luck of the draw, a 4gb card can be overclocked to 2000mhz and the two will essentially be the same.

So which one to go for ? ASUS Dual-Fan Radeon Rx 480 4GB OC Edition or Sapphire Radeon NITRO Rx 480 4GB GDDR5... both are about the same price... and btw there is Gigabyte Radeon Rx 480 G1 Gaming 4GB GDDR5 for 5$ less

In 95% of the 1750 Mhz clocked ones you can't OC the memory to 2000 Mhz without getting tons of memory errors, causing performance to be actually lower than compared to 1750 Mhz, even though It's stable.

The Gigabyte card isn't better and runs hotter than both the Asus and Sapphire, not sure why you'd suggest the Gigabyte to be honest.

^ this is true - gigabyte dropped the ball with the g1 480 , it has a sub par cooler & has vrm heating issues .

Should have been recalled IMO.

Gigabyte G1 seems fine when undervolted and w/ custom fan curve, still won't suggest it unless It's much cheaper.

Some asked me to get gtx 1060 3gb... But the 480 is better right ? and gtx also costs more in my country for about 10$-15$

RX 480 4GB is much better than the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti, even the RX 470 is still much better than both.
