I have got this old FSP 500-70EP PSU and I am thinking about getting a cheap 1070 on sale.
Will it work?

Specs (right now):
CPU: Intel i5 3350p
8 gb ram
GTX 660 (MSI OC), I overclock it myself a tidy bit too when playing all my games

I'm facing the same issue. I have a PSU with 500w (ss 500ET) and I'm sure that it will work with my i7 4770 and with a 1070 that only require an 8 pin, but I'm not found yet someone who give me an answer that convince me that there will be no problem at all.

The experts always says: "Find a PSU calculator and you will see that a system with a GTX 1070 never will pass 400 watts". The problem is when you see one of them building a PC with a GTX 1070 they use a 650 w PSU or above.

But Civilization, I wouldn't recommend you to buy a GTX 1070, rather than your PSU the CPU will bottleneck your system, unless you don't care if in many cases the FPS drops when your GPU are still in 70%. At 1440p the 1070 would give you more than 60 FPS and 40 FPS in 4k. For example, in my case the i7 4770 will bottleneck my system at 1080p and in a few cases even at 2k.
