My pc specs:

Intel core i5 4670k
Windows 7
GTX 980 TI
asus Z87-K
16 GIG DDR3 RAM
1tb hardrive (nearly full)

Basically my pc runs most games very will but seems to struggle when I turn my graphics to the max on pretty much any game, what would I need to upgrade to get my pc to run just that little bit smoother ?

Moving to faster memory will help a little, mainly with minimum frame rates but not by a great deal.

The most obvious upgrade would be the GPU: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_1080_Ti/8.html And no, I'm not suggesting you go up to a GTX1080Ti, it's just that the review includes your GTX980Ti and its obvious upgrades.

Scanning through that review, though it looks as if your rig should be able to handle pretty well any current game at high settings without too much drama maybe something is holding things up? Check the Task Manager, see if something is eating away at the CPU/RAM and run GPUz to check the GPU isn't being used excessively at idle.

For Ultra settings, I would say get an SSD and a new GPU. GTX 1070 or 1080 should cover it.
