Should I wait for volta or buy a pascal card?

I am looking to get into pc gaming, but since i need a laptop for college (won't start until august/september) and have no space to get a pc (at least for 2 1/2 years) i was looking to get a good enough gaming laptop, preferably to start playing now. My question: should i buy one now (with a gtx 1060/70) or gamble on the wait for volta, and if i do, will it be worth the price hike (because the pascal laptops are ~$300-400 below msrp)

Why do you need a laptop for college? It's better IMO to have a desktop and a chromebook for most people; you'll be doing most of your work in your dorm anyways. Otherwise, Volta might be a while. You might as well just get the best performance per dollar laptop you can find now.
