Hello everyone! I've been out of the PC game for a long time while hiding comfortably behind Apple tech (or lack there of). I got the okay from the wife to go ahead and start working on a basic rig that I can upgrade as I go along. Mind you, my budget is just under $1500.00, with that being said I do have some constraints. I focused the build primarily around getting the best performance per dollar, and working with deals I could find both online and through local stores.

This rig will be used for storage of information (videos, photos, music), as well as light gaming for games like Space Engineers and and Civ. The specs aren't going to out of the world because they truly don't neee to be.

The past list will be linked in, and just know that the monitor is a gamble. I don't much like it so please disregard.

Any constructive comments or suggestions on alternative parts and build would be greatly appreciated! http://

Everything you listed will work but I would go a bit of a different way and get some better stuff in a couple of areas.
I would leave off the water cooling and go with air.
1. No chance of a leak.
2. If the pump goes out on water your PC is 100% down.
If your editing the videos also then get a 2X8GB set of memory for 16GB if not then what you have listed will work.
Get a better power supply not the G1 series if you wish to stick with EVGA then get the G2 series.
Now the video card for about 15/20 bucks you can get a much better one so why not it's not a bad investment.
I would also get double the SSD space then you could put the OS, programs, games and still have plenty of space.
All this would be for a bit lower price than you have...

If you're looking for the best performance per dollar, I highly consider you look into an R7 1700 by amd. The ratio beats out intel by a vast margin. It costs 100 dollars more than your current CPU, however the motherboard will be cheaper.

it's a nice build

however a few adjustments:
get a 2x4 GB RAM kit
better value mainboards: Asus Z270-A(R); AsRock Fatal1ty K4
as for the PSU, a Corsair RMx, EVGA Supernova G2 or GS cost the same in their 550W variant, which is more than enough
a quite good Seasonic G is available for 67$
