I have been having this problem for some time now. I have been able to cope with it but im done as I cannot play games at 144 fps. Whenever I put my monitors refresh rate at 144Hz. This happens. http://imgur.com/QCBd1TH It has gotten to the point where I am now very scared of what could have happend. I am running a GTX1080, and the monitor is an Acer GN246HL. If anyone can give advice I would be super grateful. I have heard many things like I was just told that my monitor could be too slow for my pc. I have become very desperate at this point and I have run out of ideas. I do have a warranty on my 1080 in case it is broken.

Solution
It sounds more like it's your monitor.

Trylowering your monitor's refresh rate 1Hz at a time until (maybe) it goes away using Nvidia Control Panel.

>Open Nvidia Control Panel
>Display > Change Resolution
>Customize
>Select 'Enable resolutions not exposed by this display
>Create custom resolution
>Change refresh rate to 143Hz or lower
>Test it, if it doesn't change the green tectures, lower it more
>after testing it click okay, then select the custom resolution from the list to apply it.
