Did I damage my USB Port or other computer component?

Hi,

I just rebuilt my gaming rig. I was in the process of wiping the SSD from my old build since I could not do it on my old rig due to it containing the OS. I had powered down my computer, shut off the power supply, and disconnected it from the power outlet. I proceeded to disconnect all of my USB cables (mouse, keyboard, etc.). I had my external hard drive, which is connected to a surge protector electrical outlet, hooked up to a USB port on a USB 3.0 Expansion Card (which is connected to the computer via PCIE) in the back of the computer. I just realized that I forgot to turn off the external hard drive before I disconnected it from the computer. Again my computer was off and there was no data transfer. My concern is, since this is a new build, did I damage the USB port or any of the components connected to it? This rebuild took three days to complete and I don't like the thought of having damaged it already. Thanks.
