Hey all,

Just opened up my brand new CPU from Corsair, and it immediately smelled strongly of paint. I knew this was the glue right away, so I took a look and it looks like they put a little too much in there.

Is this normal? Should I replace? Thanks for any info.

Solution
It's completely normal. The glue/epoxy is used for many reasons: to reduce coil whine, give additional support to internal components, keep internal components touching each other, block end user damaging vital components etc.

Here's review of RM750X with looks inside,

If you browse the pics you can see that the OEM of Corsair RM750X, Channel Well Technology, has been generous with glue/epoxy.
