Hi Friends,

I bought a new Samsung EVO 850 to connect the same to my old system whose configuration is:
Gigabyte mobo: G31m-s2L
Bios : F10F, 6/1/2009

Please let me know, how can I connect the SSD as Samsung Magician is showing that the
Interface is unable to detect
AHCI mode is Deactivated
Trim is Enable

Please help

Solution
^ as I said macrium is a bit perfect cloning process.
If everything was installed to the c partition before & you clone it then it will work exactly as it did before.

You would have to point me to the actual thread to know exactly what the above info is pertaining to.

The whole point of what I suggested , ie - cloning the drive and trying it before you remove the old partition from the old drive is so you can test it out.

I've cloned win 10 to ssd half a dozen times now (for laptop users) with macrium & not had a singular issue.

G31m-s2L does not have AHCI mode i believe

I cant install window again as there are lot of Applications in my system.
I want to clone my C drive to SSD for performance boast.

Is it possible to downgrade BIOS without installing Windows again?

Please suggest me the best

You dont have to reinstall windows to update the BIOS. Updating the BIOS has nothing to do with windows

But if AHCI isnt enabled now you may have no other option but to reinstall windows (since you have to enable it in the BIOS first).

Before you install windows

There are AHCI hacks online somewhere. Just have to find the right one. If you dont want to reinstall windows

Hi,

After changing all the values from 3 to 0, I didnt find any AHCI enable option in my motherboard G31m-s2L Gigabyte.
Could you please search and help me.

Also, after changing all values via admin, after restart, values comeback to 3.

Please help

I am working on some live projects and cant format my HDD.

Is it possible, If I will remove my HDD and connect my SSD and install windows 10 from a bootable pen-drive and install all the required applications and then connect my HDD and remove "C" drive from HDD.

Will I able to connect my HDD after installing windows in SSD via a bootable pen-drive?

If yes, What should I do first in Bios to avoid any future error to connect my SSD to install windows 10 and then to reconnect my HDD.

Please help

Could you please help me and let me know the process as the the SSD is not detecting in My computer but detecting in Device manager.
In Samsung Magician, its showing:
Interface is unable to detect
AHCI mode is Deactivated
Trim is Enable

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1921624/samsung-magician-reports-system-ahci-mode.html

magician doesnt work properly on some old baords/systems without ahci support.

If trim is enabled you do not have an issue.
The drive wont show in 'my computer' becasue it has not been formatted or given a drive letter - this is completely normal.

What should I do first?
I want to clone my SSD and then will delete my C partition from HDD.
SSD will be only for C drive and HDD for storage.

https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

DOWNLOAD MACRIUM REFLECT FREE

install it

http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW/Cloning+a+disk

follow the info above to clone the old drive to the new ssd (this does not need to be formatted first)
You WILL have to shrink the C drive partition on the original drive so that it fits within the size of your ssd.

What you need to do after selecting the ssd to image to is drag & drop just the system reserved partition & the c partition to the target drive panel

Which will look similar to this (just a quick expample so not exact)

open cloned partition properties (circled in red)

change drive letter to auto

click next & let the process run.

once done ,power off the pc,unplug the original drive,& plug the cable from that drive into the ssd so youre runnig the ssd on the original hard drives sata port (saves messing in bios changing sata boot order)
Reboot with just the ssd to make sure its cloned correctly.

Shut down again, replug the original drive back in ,reboot.
Remove the C partition with disk management from the original drive, while youre there you may need to extend the C partition on the ssd as it will probably not be using the full drive space.

So after cloning is finished, I will remove HDD and connect the HDD connections to SSD to boot to check whether the SSD is booting properly or not. If its booted perfectly, then shutdown and connect the HDD to motherboard to another sata cable and reboot and after successful reboot, delete the extra C drive.
Please confirm.

Also, After cloning, will my all the applications work perfectly from SSD?
