Looking for guidance in moving my OS to my SSD from my HHD

I know theres a few guides out there for this, but I have some unique issues that I believe may hinder the process or make it complicated for me to perform. NOTE: Not very smart on these kind of things so please don't hesitate to go indepth.

1) For some reason I cannot access my bios.
2)My SSD already has files on it (games)
3)Only want to move my OS (Windows 10) to the SSD

So my SSD has 44.8gb free of 223gb and I want to ONLY move my OS onto the SSD. Im willing to delete games in order to make space of course.
My C;Drive has 46.1GB free of 930GB.

Haven't started the process at all yet, so all help is appreciated!!!

1. You can't move "ONLY the OS". There is no tool or procedure for this.
2. Whatever is on that drive WILL be wiped out.

Given your drive and data sizes...you cannot do this clone operation.
930GB - 46GB free space = 884GB
250GB SSD

Obviously, you can't squish 884GB into a 250GB drive.
And you mostly can't pick and choose what goes to the new drive.
If you're using the Samsung Data Migration tool, you can leave off things like Doc/Music/Video. Other than that...everything goes.

So, you have 2 options.

1. Clean install of the OS on the SSD. Which will probably wipe out what is on the SSD.
2. Reduce the actual used space on the HDD to below 200GB, then clone from HDD to SSD. Realizing this will wipe out whatever is on the SSD.

Thanks for the answer.
For solution 1), if I was to do a clean install of the OS onto the SSD, would I have to reinstall all the programs and applications that are already on my hardrive? I'm fine with having to wipe everything thats on my SSD because there's only games on there at the moment. Also, wouldn't a clean install of the OS make me have to use the BIOS? Correct me if im wrong.

Yes. You'd need to reinstall all of your applications along with the new OS.
Steam games that live on the current HDD probably do NOT need to be reinstalled, but everything else would be.


BIOS? Yes, if only to verify and change the boot order.

Yeah so thats gonna become a problem. As i've stated I can't access my bios for some reason so seems like i'm stuck. I can't go with the aforementioned solutuion 2 because I've got wayyy too many files to delete that would even get me to below 200gb (only 70gb free now on HDD)

EDIT: Although is there an easy way to efficiently and 'quickly' delete programs in order to get to below 200gb? It does indeed seem as if solution 2 has to be the way to go.

Yep for sure. This has been a problem for a long time but I've got no knowledge of how to fix it. Even researched for a while yet its done nothing for me.

Heres a rundown of my specs:

GTX 960 2gb
i53570k @3.4ghz
8gb ram
Motherboard: Z77X-D3H

Yeah it stays there for a minute or less, haven't properly timed it.

Then I believe the relevant key to get into the BIOS is DEL or F12.
(working from memory here)

That would be correct.I've tried both. Sometimes I pressed them once, sometimes I hold it down, sometimes i spam the key. None worked.

hmmm....
Just have to be faster than the BIOS.
Start hitting the key earlier...like as soon as you hit the power button.

I know it works.

Should the bios load as soon as I press the key? I'm still trying to get it to work bytrying f12 or delete asap and also switching usb slots

I've tried everything. F12 and delete. Both as soon as power turns on, even switched my keyboard to Port usb 2.0 instead of 3 but to no avail.

One time I got a black screen with just the letter y_

Other time I got to the recovery screen.
And another it's just stayed on a black screen
Not sure what do to now.
