Hey everyone. So I was attempting to overclock my ram and set the frequency too high. I have an I7 4790k gigabyte z97 gaming 3 motherboard, Corsair veangence 2400mhz ram. R9 fury x. And an EVGA 850 watt gold power supply.

So basically today I was overclocking my ram and got it to 2600 MHz without touching anything. So I went ahead and went for 2800mhz thinking I could change the voltage and what not later. Alright so long story short that didn't work and then the computer wouldn't boot. Like it'd turn on but wouldn't post.

So I turned it off and on again multiple times to see if I could get it to post. It finally did but I couldn't get into the bios. It gave me a black screen whenever I pressed f2. And stayed there.

So I opened up my computer then took the CMOS battery out to clear the bios. I put it back in and now the computer posts Everytime. But now it's giving me an error of your PC could not be started and telling me I need to repair it using an installation disk or USB. (Which I unfortunately don't have ATM). And I also can't get into my bios at all. As when I click it it simply goes to a black screen and remains there. Several reboots and shutdowns have been attempted but all to no avail.

Anyone got any options? I also don't have another computer to download a USB copy of windows. I have my phone though but I doubt that'd do anything. Any help will be appreciated

Hi. Thanks so much for responding! I managed to fix it. Took my ram out and switched there positions. Then I took out the cmos battery again and then boom! Booted up and finally gave me the bios has been reset message. Wooh! First thing I'm doing right now is downloading a backup copy of windows lmao. Which i should have had in the first place. Thank you for your suggestion though!

Your MOBO supports dual BIOS so if somehow you have corrupted your main BIOS ( dont think that is the case here) the PC will load the backup BIOS.
I suggest you try and trigger this manually ( multiple guides online ) and try and fix( hopefully) your main BIOS.
If that goes well it might clear things for you
