Im gonna be getting a new pc at the end of april and im hoping to bag a 1080ti if they are still available. Because I only have a limited amount of money coming in I was hoping to use my current psu to save money on the new pc till around the end of September when I should have some more disposable income, my question is will my 550w psu last untill I am able to get a new one. Im also getting a 1700x as i cant be arsed overclocking a 1700.

I cant fully remember the psu but I know its an xfx 80+ bronze and its 550w.

As for the workload ill be mostly be using 3D modelling programs specifically Maya and Zbrush. Ill also be using the unreal engine and playing a plethora of games.

Your current PSU is probably XFX TS 550W. If so, it's using Seasonic platform and it's good quality (Tier two) PSU.
specs: http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/ts-series-bronze-full-wired/ts-series-550w-psu-p1-550s-gren
PSU Tier list: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Your 550W PSU will do if you don't OC your CPU or GPU. And even then it's cutting it quite close, with total system wattage near 500W.
Here, you'll do much better with 750W PSU, especially when you OC the CPU and/or GPU.

I composed a potential build for you with proper wattage PSU,
