Hi,
Lost com1 recently and info on the com ports in device manager is no where to be found. Uninstalled all USB Devices and after re-boot they were automatically reinstalled. Still no com or lpt1 port links in device manager. I do have 5v to the usb.

I did some visual studio, sql, net app removals a few weeks back and now I have no USB:Com1 setting to connect to my arduino board. Ok....this cannot be that hard to resolve but I'm wary of installing 3rd party apps to update drivers. So here I am as I noticed Toshiba listed this web site as one of their recommended supports groups

I looked everywhere on toshiba support site and cannot find info to reinstall the com port drivers. ..Any advice greatly is appreciated, B

Solution
That laptop does not have anything that would run "com port" or lpt1. Those would be virtual ports if anything that use the USB ports and drivers for the device. You won't see the ports until they are created by the device drivers.

Try re-installing the Arduino software, if you removed any .net versions, install them again.
