CPU is hitting 90 degrees Celsius with no overclocking

So i just built this machine a few days ago and everything is working fine. My CPU temp idles at around 34 degrees Celsius. Whenever i try to load CPU heavy games like ghost recon wildlands my CPU temp jumps to the 90's. I went to the Bios just to make sure i had no overclocking profiles active and i don't. Games like overwatch and league of legends run at a CPU temp around 70 degrees. I have updated my Bios and reset my motherboard but the temp still climbs. So my question is what could cause this super high temperature and how can i fix it?

Specs:
Asua ROG Maximus Hero IX z270
Intel Core i7-7700k 4.2
Kraken x52 Cooling
Geforce GTX 1080 FTW 3.0

Solution
Your idle temperatures tell me that your cooler is mounted well and is functioning.
What is your case and is the cooler radiator mounted to draw in air from the outside or the inside of the case.

A I7-7700K is a well binned processor that at stock operates at near overclocked speeds.

One possible explanation for the difference with games is that some might be using the AVX instructions which put a heavy heat load on the processor.
In the bios, you can tell the cpu to run at a lower multiplier if it encounters those instructions.

try applying your own, may help being fresh thermal paste. it could also be voltages check in your bios maybe someone who knows more about that look into it for you but it could be the problem sorry i cant help much more

Np thank you very much for the advice. Ill attempt to adjust the voltages first and if it doesn't help ill apply some fresh paste.

My case is the Master Case Maker 5 and cooler radiator is mounted to draw air from inside the case. Radiator is at the top of the case with fans right beneath it. I will look into the Bios for the instructions as well. Do you happen to know good cpu voltage for the i7-7700k by chance?

Your case is good, the stock fans are good.
Radiator mount is a catch 22 situation.
If you draw in cool air from the outside, you will cool the cpu better, but your graphics card and motherboard will be hotter.
You also negate the cleaning action of a positive pressure airflow.
On balance, I like it the way you have it now.

Monitor with cpu-Z.
Under load, your vcore should top out near 1.40.

Be careful if you selected optimize defaults in the bios; that sometimes means a motherboard directed overclock.
Better to set all manually.

Will do! Im in the bios now but i only see this "AVX Instruction Core Ratio Negative Offset" and my core ratio is 42x. Were u referring to this or a different setting? Also my vcore is at 1.152 in the Bios but cpu-z says its 1.248.

I applied some fresh thermal paste and tried my cooler in a different position. Im happy to report that everything is working ok now. 27 degree idle and 50 degrees running high cpu game and programs :)
