Can I safely overclock fx 6300 with a stock fan for battlefield 1?

I'm looking to get more consistent frame rates on Battlefield 1. My computer can handle Battlefront, BF4, Doom, etc on ultra just fine and see great frame rates. But not really the case for battlefield 1. I'll see FPS drop to mid 40s and go as high as low 80s.

Other components:

Processor: AMD FX-6300 CPU (6x 3.50GHz/6MB L2 Cache)

Memory: 16 GB [4 GB x4] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - Prebuilt

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 6GB (VR-Ready) 1xCase LightingNone

That's a poor motherboard for overclocking, the VRM's are known to overheat and then the CPU gets throttled. Any overclock will be limited by your motherboard.

Also what make and model PSU is it? 600w doesn't actually mean much, quality is equally important and some low end units just lie.

If you're looking to overclock and have a decent motherboard that will support it you'll likely need a better cooler. It's not recommended to overclock with the stock cooler, the stock cooler is generally only sufficient to handle stock speeds. Overclocking can raise the temps up to a point where the stock cooler can't keep up. Consider investing in a better aftermarket cooler. Bf1 benefits from strong cores with high ipc and multiple threads, the fx cpu's only offer multiple threads. Similarly i5's do ok but fall behind i7's a bit due to lack of hyper threading, they have strong ipc and lower number of threads. I7's offer both.
