cmos battery replacement

i bought a motherboard off ali express and it arrived without a cmos, its a ga z77 can i use any cmos for a replacement. can i use any old battery, can i damage the motherboard if i do.

yes that board uses a standard 3.3 volt cmos coin battery. any good battery from an old motherboard would work.

Likely a CR-3032 battery. They look like watch batteries. As long as it's that model you should be fine.

Its CR2032. If you have one already, you can use a volt meter to test if its any good, greater than 3v will keep you going for now. These batteries are only about £0.15 each if bought in a strip of 5.
