What do you guys think of my first build?

This is my first build. I am looking to play 1080p games at high, very high, and ultra settings with at least 60 frames (turning settings down from ultra to very high or high is fine). The most demanding games i will probably be playing are gta 5, just cause 3, fallout 4, and witcher 3. I have a 1TB WD Blue hard drive in my old pc so i can use that. This is also probably the pc i will be using when i start college in 2 years, so there's that.
Here is the list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7X4qQV

If you have any recommendations, let me know! Thanks!

  1. The PSU you chose is a Tier 3. Not absolutely terrible. I would bump it up to a higher quality Tier 2.

8GB RAM is fine for now. Use that money for the other parts. RAM is an easy upgrade to perform in the future. Hopefully, when prices have gone back down. By doing so you can make a faster and higher quality sub $800 build.

  2. I'd go for at least a 240-256 GB SSD. 128 will fill up very quickly, even with just your OS on it.

RAM is typically better to buy in a kit (2x8 GB sticks) so it's a tested, working pair. It's rare, but sometimes even RAM from the same manufacturer doesn't get along.

The PSU could be better - take a look at the Corsair CX-M or Seasonic S12II series. 500-550W is enough.

128Gb ssd is not enough, even my 480Gb fill up with only 5 games. If you are limited with budget, better get HDD for now, and you can buy bigger SSD in the future.

Nice build, I actually impress of how you manage to see the good bargain with 6th generation motherboard that has dropped price. I revised it a bit, it should has better ram, descent casing, better psu and better gpu (sapphire nitro is a bit better). I exclude the SSD because 128Gb is really not enough. You can always add it in the future.

  4. Thanks so much for the suggestions! Since i am new to this, if i get an ssd later on, is it possible to move windows from a hard drive to an ssd?
  5. Yes, there are several methods to transfer a workable window into other drive (ssd). But I never done it myself. I prefer clean install. As long as you have the cd key and using the same pc, you should be fine
