I am pondering this problem for more than a week now and I can't decide what to do. My parents got a beautiful rural home and expect me and my brother to move in with them. This place is great and I would be incredibly happy to live there especially since I'll pay little to no pay.

The problem came when we found out that there is no Internet providers available for the new house. The previous owners had satellite Internet and I tried it out and I can not deal with 700 ping.

I honestly don't play a lot of online games but I am no stranger to them either. I also watch a lot of YouTube and streams on twitch. Me and my brother are tempted to get our own place but we'really wondering if Internet is really worth paying renthe and Internet bills. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

How rural are you talking about? If there are neighbors around, they likely have the same problem. Get enough of them together and you can put together your own Internet service.

If you have the know-how, you could even start this as a business. You and your brother could work from home providing high-speed wireless Internet to all your neighbors.

If there's a town or business area with Internet nearby (within line of sight), you can talk with a business owner or friend there and arrange to set up a wireless link. Browse Ubiquiti's website - they have relatively cheap equipment which can provide wireless connections over 10-20 km without losing too much speed. You may have to build a small antenna tower in your new home's backyard (put a windmill on it to generate some power as well).

1) not sure about the PHONE idea, but you would still need a Satellite internet to download the game in the first place as cellular downloads would be costly.

2) PING latency using cellular will also vary on the quality of the service you have access to. I'm no expert but more than 100ms ping seems to make games unplayable but they vary.

3) If you can avoid MULTIPLAYER games then your problem goes away.

I'd probably settle for satellite or mifi if either option is unlimited. I don't want to be afraid to watch a bunch of youtube videos and stuff only to lose it for the rest of the month.

I also want to say that yes I don't play that many online multiplayer, but I don't want to lose the ability to play with my friends online on the rare occasions we have the same online games.
