Hello everyone, I am having issues using my Samsung tv as a PC Monitor at 4K 60hz via HDMI. I have a Visiontek Radeon R9 390X graphics card, and a Samsung UN55JS9000 tv. No matter what I do, I can only get 4k at 30 hz, and this gives me mouse lag.

The graphic card supports 3840 x 2160 via the HDMI port, and the TV supports 4k at 60 hz 4:4:4.

- I have setup the TV to PC mode, UHD on.
- I have installed all the drivers, I have tried changing the resolution via Ati Catalyst and via Windows Settings.
- I have used multiple HDMI cords.
- I have tried Game mode on the TV, I have also tried turning off all unnecessary features.
- I have spent many hours trying to fix this issue and reading countless articles on how to go about doing this correctly.

It seems the only time I do not have mouse lag, is when I have the TV at 1080p, I do not understand why this is the case.

Please help, I don't know what I'm missing.

Solution
Yah, I checked and it's:
HDMI 1.4a, and
DP 1.2a

Which means:
HDMI up to 4K at 30Hz
(you need HDMI v2.0 to support 4K at 60Hz)

DP up to 4K at 75Hz

And no, there's likely no inexpensive, active converter for DP to HDMI.
It's likely 4K, 30Hz for HDMI.

If you support 4K, 60Hz at all then it's likely only DisplayPort (with a 4K monitor).

Your best bet is to set to 1080p, and frankly you don't really support 4K gaming anyway for most titles, at least not without dropping the QUALITY so much it defeats the POINT of the higher resolution. 1080p will give you a better gaming experience.

I have checked for active adapters from DP to HDMI in the past and they only support 4k at 30Hz, I read that its in development.
Thanks you very much for your help!
