Hi,
My home built PC won't boot or enter the BIOS.

It turns on and shows the ASUS splash screen. "press DEL or F2 to enter UEFI BIOS settings" and just stays there.

Last thing I was doing was formatting an SD card for a Raspberry Pi.

steps I've tried
- pressing DEL and F2 many times
- turning off and on again
- inserting bootable windows USB
- updating BIOS using Asus USB Bios update
- clearing the CMOS
- removing the SSD with operating system and checking in an external drive on a laptop. (so no, I didn't accidentally format my hard drive)
- browsing these forums

so that's where I am now. The only thing I can think of that I've not tried is to use a PS/2 keyboard, so I'm just asking around for one. Otherwise I am fully stumped.

motherboard is P8Z77-M from ASUS. It's a self build that has served me fine for about 4 years.

Thanks in advance for any help or pointers.

Update: leaving it over lunch it got to BIOS. I've changed boot order to prioritise the USB. but on restart, still sticking at splash screen. will leave it to see if it gets to BIOS again.

on turn on, get one short beep. which from here https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1029959
indicates VGA detected but no keyboard.

That would explain why pressing keyboard does not get into BIOS. though once in BIOS the keyboard did work...
