Hi all,

I am pretty new to overclocking and as I have a stock fan on my CPU I thought I'd start with my 780 ti. I am using Asus' GPU Tweak II (simply b/c its just the one that I had, I have heard MSI afterburner or precision x are more standard choices).

My confusion is that w/GPU Tweak II it looks like I can only affect the boost clock and not the core? Really confused on why there isn't an option for the core. Does the core increase also when I increase the boost or do they do different things and maybe its better to increase the boost?

Second question what I noticed there is GPU tweak and GPU tweak II? I downloaded GPU tweak and noticed this one has an option to change the core clock ("GPU clock" im assuming means core)? If Tweak II is the successor to the original, why would they remove the core increase option and replace it with a way to increase boost clock option?

Guide I ended up following: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2749337/safe-gpu-overclocking-guide-2016.html

Solution
Boost clock is just the increase in speeds, there is no "boost clock" in a video card, only the chip core and the video memory speeds. Use the older version if you feel more comfortable with using it. Up the speeds by 5% at first, if it's stable, go up another 5%, if stable, you can leave it as is or try to go up a few % at a time. Keep in mind overclocking is not guaranteed and could damage the video card.
