Hi. I'm looking for a CPU upgrade but I do have some questions. I'd like to go with the I5 7600k. I think the extra 100€ for an i7 7700k ist not necessary. I do have a h110m from Asrock with a Pentium G4560. I bought these parts a month ago in order to have a budget PC. I want it right now at that time :). But now I'd like to upgrade. My plan ist to buy the I5 7600k. Can I run it on de Mobo I have? In the future I like to overclock the CPU. But not right now. Because power should be enough for current games. maybe in one or two years I'll oc the CPU. So is it recommended to buy a new mobo now or just stick to the h110m that I have now and save the money for another mobo in the future?

Thanks in advance

Ryzen gaming performance isn't very good atm, Intel CPUs will still beat them in that regard, no point holding out a whole month for something you don't know the performance of.
For rendering, they're fantastic.
For gaming? Not so much.
Put it this way; their $500 1800x lost to a 6800k which is worse than a 7700k in terms of gaming performance.
Their cheaper 4 core HT CPU won't compare at all.
The i7 7700 and a good decent cooler like the Cryorig M9i is the way to go.

You think a i7 7700 non K is more performance. At the moment I can't see if it is the extra 80€ worth. I mean in comparison to the 7600k i can see there is more L3 cache and a lower TDP. Unless I have a 850W PSU I'm not interested in Low TDP.
That's what I figured out in an Onlineshop so far. Did I maybe not see some other advantage what should make me buying a 7700?

It has more threads, and boosts up to 4.2GHz out of the box. Higher thread CPUs are quickly becoming more utilized in games, and nearly all titles are becoming more CPU dependent.
For example, take BF1 or Arma 3; pretty much anything but an OC'd i5 or i7 suffers from mild stuttering or frame drops simply due to how CPU intensive these titles are.

As you are, i'm saying this way you don't even need to spend money on a motherboard, because you can do a BIOS update if needed, slot it in, whack on the cooler and you're good to go.
Easy, instant performance fix that'll last you much longer before you need to upgrade again.

I think that is the major part I didn't get. I thought i5's also use hyperthreading. Anyway that makes my decision much more complicate. I mean the price gap is huge when it comes to price-performance things. But I get the point in having more Threads is more future save.

Thanks for the quick answers. But I think I have a plan now. Rayzen 5 will release at April 11th, that's what I read this morning on the internet. I think it's not a bad idea to wait until the release. Maybe rayzen becomes more attractive because already the smallest rayzen chip will have 4c/8t. I hope amd does not suck at that point. Because intel may drop prices for i7 7700 then. This could become a win win situation for me.

Now let's put wood behind the arrow and talk about i7. I think you convinced me. But there also different options. Your recommendation was a 7700 without k. It's about 320€ +- few € depending on shipping costs. 7700k is about 360€ +-. And then there is still skylake with 6700k which is about 330€.
First of all you said I can run the 7700 with my mobo. Of course with a decent CPU cooler. But can I also run the K pendants as well I mean in stock version? So no oc atm.
I see you also have a K version. So k gives me a Little more Safety for the future. My plan was getting a k version in order to have the possibility to oc it when you have the feeling that it becomes to slow in the future in order to have the CPU a year or two longer before next upgrade. 7700 has slower clockspeed. You think it will still last several years? 7700k has oc option but oc potential is not big because the stock version out of the box is almost maxed out. Therefor you have insane clockspeeds an boost speeds with the 7700k an still a little oc potential.
I still can't decide. But at least I'm sure to get an i7.
I saw a review about i7's. The guy told that he doesn't like K because the things you need (better cooling unit/Mobo) will cost in the end more money that it becomes non profitable.
What do you think?
