I just built my computer, it has NVidia HD Audio installed, but whenever i plug in any headphones into the audio jack, it doesn't read it, if i use a wireless headset it works just fine, but i prefer my Razer Kraken plug in headphones, I tried installing Realtek HD audio driver but it won't even show up in my device manager, only my NVidia HD audio.

Do the headphones work properly on another computer or sound source?

Did you download the Realtek HD audio driver via Realtek or some other source?

Also: Right click the small speaker icon most likely located in the lower right screen corner.

Select Playback devices and see what is selected as the default device. Then start looking at the various tabs, configurations, and properties options. Drill down as far as you can go with respect to the choices available.

You may just need to make a simple jack selection.

In any case, make only one change at a time. Keep notes so you can undo something if necessary.

the headphones do work on other devices, and i downloaded realtek from techspot because in the realtek website I dont know if I needed to get the HD audio codec or the AC'97 audio codec.

on my playback devices, it shows NVidia HD audio, but says that two outputs are not plugged in, and two speakers, the wireless headset and the Xsplit stream auido, when i plug any sort of headphones in though, nothing changes.

When I checked my BIOS, it showed the front panel audio was disable, I don't know why, but it was, once I enabled it, realtek started showing up and everything is working great, thank you.
