Wi-fi for my Dell Studio 435mt

So I currently have a Dell Studio 435MT, and I am forced to change from wired to WI-fi. To use Wi-fi I believe you need some sort of adapter. What are my best options in order to get a secure fast connection?

CPU - i7-920
Motherboard - DX58M01
Operator - Windows 7 pro
GPU - Radeon HD 3650

Also had other TP models before that and no problems. Incredible range and speed even through two stone walls.

it is a old desktop pc, you can put inside a wifi card or buy a wifi adapter via usb

what is your budget, why can't you keep the ethernet cable?

it is always more desirable to have a ethernet cable than a wifi adapter

Well, I want my own personal PC in my own room upstairs while the router is downstairs being used by another PC, phones ect.

simplest option is a USB wi-fi adapter that plugs into any USB port on your desktop. if you are somewhat good with computers you can get an internal wi-fi adapter that uses a PCI-E or PCI slot. some advantages of the internal adapters are that some come with Bluetooth and external antennas
