I have a Lenovo m71z (1782) core i3 2120 (2nd Gen)
LGA1155.

I'm thinking of upgrading my processor to core i5 or i7 but am wondering if such an upgrade would be supported on this machine.

Would any core i5/i7 with LGA1155 work on my pc? Are there chances that the pc might not work after the upgrade?

Please advise.

The documentation I saw, off a quick search, mentions that model could be configured with up to an i5 2400s. So I would not be comfortable attempting to install anything more than that, since the power supply and/or motherboard might have issues with more than that.
That looks like an all in one desktop, so it's gonna be very hard to mod if you can evne get in there. That said, I'm pretty sure you're safe using a CPU with the same TDP, so you can go up as far as an i7 3770 non K if you get the right BIOS in and whatnot.

Speaking of which, some OEMs like to lock their motherboards so you can't tinker with them that way. Make sure you can get in the BIOS in case you gotta tweak stuff.
