The question is pretty much in the title, I was curious as I'm getting my foot in the door with all this IT business, currently training for A+ cert etc, whenever I have a virus or anything that looks like it could be a virus I run windows defender, how come it costs so much for these businesses to remove them for people?

Solution

They rely on people to whom the PC is a magical black box. Press keys and usually things appear on the screen.

Anything outside of that "HELP ME!! FIX IT!!! I'LL PAY ANYTHING!!!"
I'm not an IT man and I dont have certificates. But I can remove them sometimes

Depends what it is, and what it does. And whether it's a virus or a trojan (which is worse)

Sometimes you have to do more than that if it's something like a trojan

I usually disable system restore first. If it's a trojan I'll use something like trojan remover, which if it finds something, it'll tell you what it is. And it'll also remove it from the system and wherever its commands are to run it. ie the registry / scheduled tasks

Most companies probably take forever / take their time and charge you heaps... I'll rather fix it myself. Or whoever has the virus / trojan

I'm with you there, I usually fix it myself or find a way to fix it myself if I didn't already know how. I'm curious if these actual companies do something different to charge more, or if they are doing a pretty simple virus removal and just charging alot for it.
