I just got all the parts in for a new system. With my ASUS Z170 Pro motherboard it cycles the red lights through CPU, then RAM, then gets stuck on VGA - the manual tells me to listen to beeps to get a handle on the issue but there's no beeping. Since the board has its own video card, I yanked the GPU thinking perhaps that is the issue, but still it gets stuck on VGA led. I've tried without GPU, with GPU in another slot, disconnecting/reconnecting all the internal plugs (in case something was loose/missing/wrong slot) but nothing. I'm at my wit's end, and I've seen similar issues where people mail in their motherboards only to be told there's nothing wrong with it. I'm hoping someone can help me in case it's not the motherboard.

Solution
It needs BIOS 3007 to support that CPU

Core i5-7600K (3.8GHz, 4C, L3:6M, Intel HD 600 series, 91W, rev.B0) ALL 3007

Look at the sticker on the mobo. If the last 4 numbers aren't 3007 or 3201 (the latest BIOS) it'll need an update

Only way to fix it. Take it to a shop and ask them to flash it wth a compatible Skylake (depending on what those 4 numbers are)

Or buy/borrow a compatible Skylake flash the BIOS then put the 6700K back in

Unless it has 3007 or the latest BIOS on it now it wont do anything inc post / turn on

Thats why there's no signal

If you want to install / use a Kaby Lake, buy a Z270 / B260 mobo. . Which may be more compatible

H110 and Z170 mobos will require a BIOS update

If I did need a BIOS update I'd be hosed, since it doesn't recognize a monitor on either onboard or GPU. Here's the specs on this system.

Hmmm, found a thin sticker across the top of my mobo, last four digits was 1902

So I have to take it to a shop to flash it with compatible BIOS... like Geek Squad, perhaps?

Edit: screw that, found a handful of dedicated computer repair shops, I'll hit the phones in the morning.

You were right! I took it to a shop, they threw in an old CPU and got the bios upgraded, now it works like normal. Now if I can just get Windows 10 to install properly grrrr...

Turns out an install of Windows 10 (Education) was the issue. I used a regular windows 10 (Home) USB, then after it installed it upgraded. Everything works like a dream now, thanks =)
