Do I NEED a new CPU or is my current one still good enough?

I'm wondering if my processor is the bottleneck I'm suspecting it is and if I should upgrade or not. If I do, I'll grab the AMD FX-8350, since it's fairly cheap at the moment.

Specs:
CPU- AMD FX-6100
GPU- EVGA SSC 1060 6gb
Motherboard- ASRock 960GM-GS3 FX
RAM- 16gb Corsair Vengeance
Power- Corsair cx500m
CPU Cooler- Cooler Master hyper 212 evo
OS- windows 10 64bit

As others are noting, you can't use either of these. Neither CPU will function on your motherboard. And an upgrade to an FX-8350 isn't worth buying a new CPU *and* a new motherboard. Similarly, an upgrade to a 9590 is definitely not worthy buying a new motherboard and new cooling and a new power supply.

Your best move is to save money until you can upgrade to a modern platform, either Ryzen or a recent Intel. There's...

Honestly, I'm becoming concerned due to some system requirements for recent games lately. To use Mass Effect Andromeda as an example, I don't even meet the minimum requirements when it comes to CPU, at min, they say it should be an AMD fx-6350. Actual recommended is the 8350. Since I don't meet that minimum, I wonder if my CPU will be an issue.

This made me realize that I might want to try and future proof my build, so just yesterday I Upgraded my gpu to the 1060 from a 960 and ram to 16 from 8. Now I'm wondering about the CPU

If it were me I would upgrade your CPU. Here are a couple of links that you can look at to see what you would be gaining in performance

It's a moot point as your motherboard doesn't support any 125W FX CPUs. While an 8370e at 95W would also be an upgrade, it's only about halfway between the 6100 and the 8350 in performance, which limits the marginal value of an upgrade. And if you were to buy a new motherboard for a new CPU, I can't recommend you make such an upgrade to a very old platform.

Alright, so Newegg currently has a sale on some processors. The AMD FX-8350 is $139 and the FX-9590 is the exact same price. Should I jump on the 9590 or just call it good with the 8350? the 8350 has a much lower power consumption and I dont want to end up needing a larger power supply if i go with the 9590.

The FX 9590 requires 220 Watts of power. Your board will not support it. Did you read ZIM's post about your board not supporting even 125 W cpu's? The 9590's require advanced cooling, and many people can not get them to run stable even on a supported board. There is a reason the 9590 is on sale, no one in their right mind would buy one, especially with the new AMD Ryzens now available.
