Hi all,

I am having a hell of a time trying to control my system fans. There is only one header labeled System Fan on the MOBO so I have a splitter running it to 2 x Fractal Design Dynamic GP14 fans (came built into the Define S case). There doesn't seem to be any fan control settings in the BIOS so I've tried the following:

1. Gigabyte App Center > System Information Viewer > Smart Fan Auto > Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an instance of an object. Windows Thermal Console automatically runs a scan and says: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. No notification.

2. Gigabyte App Center > System Information Viewer > Smart Fan Advanced > Nothing happens, just stays on whichever other tab was already opened.

3. SpeedFan version 4.52 > Does not automatically recognize the fan(s), however it does see my CPU and GPU fans. I also tried configuring it on their website http://www.almico.com/sfhandleconfig.php but they do not support my MOBO or any B150 chipset boards apparently.

4. Updating BIOS, Windows 10, and .NET Framework (which I've read could lead to the object reference error mentioned above). .NET just said it was already installed so if someone could walk me through repairing or reinstalling it, I would appreciate that.

All this troubleshooting rose out of another ongoing GPU issue detailed here http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3359202/radeon-480-8gb-solid-color-freezes.html - so its important I am able to control my fans.

This case does not have an optical drive bay so I cannot simply add a fan hub or controller. Am I just SOL? Thanks in advance for any input.

Solution

His trying to do it with software on the operating system. Not within the BIOS.
