Installing graphics card

Hello! I am fairly new to GPU and all of that kind of stuff. I have just recently bought a laptop, and its not terrible with its intel graphics card. My question is, do i have to have an Nvidia graphics card physically installed to have an nvidia driver? or can i install nvidia drivers by themselves? I am having some issues with changing the GPU location on some things and I have to have the nvidia graphics control panel. I do not have that though. So can I install this control panel by itself? Or would i have to purchase an nvidia graphics card (which is something i cannot even use). Thankyou.

if your laptop doesnt have nvidia graphic card, you cant install nvidia control panel, but if your laptop does has nvidia graphic card then the answer is yes you can. by the way what do you mean on changing the gpu location on some things?
