3.0 x4 NVMe drives as a single boot drive offer little perceptible differences over good quality standard SATA III SSD drives. You would be giving up some numbers on synthetic benchmarks, but you would not notice it as an average user under almost all circumstances.
If you have more than one NVMe drive in your system and frequently transfer, process or move around files......the uber-fast arrays are quite noticeable indeed......so it really depends on how you use your system as to whether you'd notice much of a difference.
