Is there something wrong with my CPU?

I have here an Intel i5 6500. Whenever I tried putting it into my motherboard it wouldn't boot. I don't think it's the motherboards pins. I studied those thoroughly. Both have compatible sockets. Any idea on what it could be?

It should be perfectly compatible, take the motherboard back to the retailer and get a refund, you always want at least a B series board btw, get the B250 DS3H.

When you say "It wont boot", do you get any beep codes ?
Can you get a post, bios screen ?
Does the cpu fan thrash?
Any lights on the board light up ?

Exactly what happens when you press the power on button, exactly.

I assume that when he says it doesn't boot it doesn't turn on at all, no lights, no nothing, although I definitely should have asked to be sure.
