Hello!

I have an i3-6100 and a gtx 1060 3gb
And I really want to upgrade my CPU since I'm pretty positive that it's causing bottle neck issue's, but I can't for the love of unicorns decide what would be the best i5 for my build considering I don't want to spend over 270$ I had my eye's set on the i5-7600 but my friend keeps telling me I shouldn't , keep in mind my mother board can't handle over clocking (MSI B250 mortar arctic).

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the i3-6100 does bottleneck the GTX 1060 especially in CPU-demanding games.

To avoid this, any i5 of the 6th-gen or 7th-gen Intel CPUs would suffice, depending on your budget and where you are purchasing the CPU from.

Here are all suggestions and its prices:

Intel Core i5-7600 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($216.89 @ OutletPC)
Intel Core i5-7500 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($192.33 @ OutletPC)
Intel Core i5-7400 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($183.89 @ OutletPC)

Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($210.49 @ OutletPC)
Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.69 @ SuperBiiz)
Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($175.69 @ OutletPC)

I'd personally go for...

I'd personally go for either the i5-7500 or i5-7600. It pairs with your B250-chipset motherboard well, has higher clock speeds than the rest, and fits your max budget of $270.
