my GPU was hot at 99 celsius for an hour or two , is that safe? or it will be a melt down. because my windows defender was on . when its on i hit 70 -99 . when its off i hit 40 . why is that? and is it 99 safe for an hour or two?

I Know something is wrong with windows defender . when its on it reaches 99 . when i turn off it is at 40 i use asus gpu fan . is my gpu permenantly damaged at 99 c , is my memory on gpu damaged? thanks friend! :)
