too much ram usage

So I have 16GB (2x8gb,ddr3) and when im not even playing a game it uses 5-6gb and when i count all of the open things in the task manager and how much they use they barely add up to 2gb and I really dont know what to do

MSI gaming 3 z97 Motherboard
i7-4790
16gb (2x8gb)
msi gtx 1070

Hit START

Type "Resource Monitor"

hit ENTER

Go to the memory tab and see what is being used.
This will show you EXACTLY what is using the RAM and exactly how much.
It also lets you see how much is shared, etc.

There is very little reason to worry though. Just make sure there isn't anything nefarious in there.
