Hi guys, new to the forum. I am trying to price out a build for a PC. I am coming from an iMac 27" 5K which I intend to sell to fund this. Gaming with bootcamp is just not cutting it anymore.

I play FFXIV exclusively and would like to try Overwatch and other action/adventure. It's been about 5+ years since I built a PC so I am a bit dated... I want to keep the cost down but want certain things. I have always wanted to watercool and definitely make the case look aesthetically pleasing with lighting. I would also like tempered glass on one side of the case. I already have a gaming keyboard and mouse, I also have a 24" monitor (not the best but can be upgraded down the line to ultra-wide if possible)

Core i5 and 16gb of ram, SSD (thinking 128-256 for boot and game, adding a 2TB for storage), MOBO with WiFi, best video card I can get w/o breaking the bank (1060/1070?), I really like that NZXT 62 watercooling system, white casing, 750W PS?.

I would like to run full 1080P but be able to do higher down the line if possible

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

There are some sacrifices I made for more performance. It will cost several dollars more though for what you came up with.

Can't do what you want without hurting performance badly.

That CPU cooler is crazy overkill for your budget (can't spend 15% on a cooler) did get you a cooler with red LEDs and a case with red LEDs. If you have a copy of Windows this fits the budget. If you don't then you can drop to a 4gb rx480 and get back in budget

Scratch the above... Board with red LEDs. Black case with red LEDs, red LED CPU cooler. Actually closer to budget

I don't need a Windows copy. I have external storage I can use for now to not sacrifice other components. I am probably buying from Amazon as I have no interest there and the prices in some cases are less than quoted here, a couple are a bit higher but negligible with the advantage of 0% interest.

How well is this build in terms of upgradability down the line? I want something that won't be obsolete and in the future I want to get an Ultrawide monitor to run 2560x1080 (I didn't see a huge difference in 3440x1440 to justify doubling the price)

Thanks!

You don't need 750W, even if you overclock.

Like I said I haven't been in the PC building game in a long time so I wasn't sure of all of the parts. I don't intend to overclock much if at all, I also don't remember mentioning it at all. Your rude criticism is not at all appreciated either.

Thanks! So I see you upgraded the video card to a 1070, ok I guess that's more future proofing. I can skip out on the TB HD for now as I have an external for pictures and stuff. I had a 750w while back so why I sort of defaulted to it. Thanks again.
