4 RAM sticks not working

Greetings,

I have four 2GB DDR3 RAM sticks for an old PC of mine. I was planning on putting more RAM in as I thought I had a few other sticks somewhere. So I put the 4 original sticks in an envelope and put them on my shelf. After only finding 1 stick of 4GB I decided to put the original sticks back in. But now they won't work?

I've tried using the 4GB stick and it works fine, the slots are working fine, every single RAM stick from the original bunch doesn't work. I've tried using them in a different PC and they don't work there either.

What's happened to the RAM? Is there any way of salvaging them?

Thanks

The 4GB sticks are also DDR3. Both PC's have a motherboard with DDR3 RAM slots.

Thanks
