Can I put g. Skill 3866 (oc) ram in a msi z270 gaming m5?

I have a z270-AR with a 6600k but I have the opportunity to return it and pic up the m5 for 25 dollars cheaper. I've looked at the specs a few different places and I've seen the max at 3800 and 3866.

Will it hurt the motherboard if I do use it or will it just throttle the ram down to 3800?

Solution
Actually, mobo specs:
"• 4 x DDR4 memory slots, support up to 64GB
- 7th Gen processors support DDR4 3800(OC)/ 3600(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400/ 2133 MHz*
- 6th Gen processors support DDR4 3600(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400(OC)/ 2133 MHz*"
Since you have 6th gen CPU, your limit is 3600. But it will not hurt motherboard in any case having faster ram. It should go down to mobo limit, in the worst case scenario you will have to enter ram settings manually in BIOS.
