ok so i have a crap load of files i need to compress as best as possible and as small as a file size possible. these are random files everything from random internet download to avi and mpeg 4 video files. i tried google but with so many different programs such as rar and win zip i thought id ask here and see what my fellow zoners prefer. reason for this is im running outta space on my HDD and cant afford to upgrade to a bigger drive so to save space i need to compress these files
edit would prefer free compression programs but will pay if its worth it but program must offer maximum compression with minimal loss and shrink the files to as small a size as possible thanks
edit forgot to mention some of the folders i need to compress already have zipped files in them
