Just installed a TP-LINK 24 Port TL-SG1024 switch and now all my connected devices receive no internet, I have a netgear CG3000D-RG modem/router combo that connects to my UPS for power surge filtering then UPS to switch port 1 (unmanaged switch so doesn't matter which port from my understanding), all my computers have network 4 as my connection but no internet, when I go directly from router to PC I have Internet, I have bypassed my UPS and went straight from router to switch but still no internet so I am assuming it's the switch that needs config or I am making a rookie mistake, any tips? I have power cycled modem/router and switched already

thanks for the input, ya i have no idea what went on for it to work but I'll explain what I did for other future reads of this post and hope it helps them

I connected modem/router to switch and i had 4 ports taken to my dell poweredge server, all four nics on the server were showing the problem i described above (network but no internet) so i simply went to each nic and did windows diagnostics on them, windows daig told me two nics were getting the wrong ip config and it auto fixed it and it told me two nics were...
There is nothing you can configure on that switch which is what unmanged means. If you actually get a IP address from the router and can log into the router from the PC it means it works at least on the lan side. If not I would be sure the ports are actually coming up. Bad cables would be the most common reason for ports to not come active. Most devices show lights when ports are active/connected. This is one of those things that just has to work it is simplistic.

Using the surge protection in a UPS is almost silly. Ethernet cables are magnetically isolated from the power in end devices so every end device in effect acts as a surge protector. If you look at silly stuff like massive surges that would destroy say your switch and then introduce a surge into the cable the UPS could just as easily fail and introduce a surge. Technically adding the UPS to a ethernet cable make the connection non compliant with the ethernet standards.

Thanks for the input and yea im not using the ups for Ethernet surge anymore, it is only 10/100 so it bottle necks the whole system

I have no idea what went on but thats what i did, good luck to anyone else with this problem
