I was just wondering if the HD7970 (2 of them in crossfire) would beat the GTX1060 (Just by itself), I couldn't really find any benchmarks that's why asking. This is in 1080p by the way.

Hard to say, not all games support crossfire. It can cause various issues or not work at all like CRO5513Y mentioned. A 1060 will always perform at 1060 levels where 7970's may be limited to performing like a single 7970. Also unless I'm mistaken the 7970's are 3gb vram cards. The 1060 is available in 3gb or 6gb. If you're playing games that make use of more than 3gb vram the 1060 would be a better choice, vram doesn't stack in crossfire.

A single GTX 1060 6GB beats a HD 7970 on it's own by about 40-50%, however in Crossfire i'd say it would be pretty close. That said, i would most definitely go the GTX 1060 because 1x stronger card is almost always better than 2x weaker cards. Multi GPU setups often cause issues and sometimes don't work at all in games. Unsure on your situation with 1060 but if your looking at a new card be sure to take a look at the RX 480 as well, solid contender and usually cheaper. So overall i would say 1x 1060 would beat both 7970 in almost all games maybe a few Vulkan titles it would win IF it supports CrossFire in the first place.

I had a 7970 and was disappointed by the performance increase when I got the 1060 6gb. Ended up selling the 1060 and bought a 1070... What I'm trying to say is, you're probably better off spending $75 on another 7970 rather than $250 on a 1060. Just my opinion, better bang for your buck if it scales decent in crossfire.
