So the link above will tell you my current build trying to upgrade from an Radon hd6770 to the RX480 4G. Yes i know there are several better cards like the 1080,1070,1060.... and so on but I have settled for this one just trying to see if this build will work for gaming, like doom, overwatch, Mass Effect series, and whatever else I can get my hands on.

Thanks!

If you are really set to upgrade your CPU with your current motherboard/ram, then it is not recommended as the FX is really a dead-end build (no chance of getting better performance and no upgradability). If you prefer an AMD build, I would suggest looking into the Ryzen line of CPUs and Motherboards. It may be a little buggy for now (as it was just recently released) and you should wait a while until BIOS updates would make the Ryzen stable.

In the Intel side of things, they are already "stable" and lots of options to choose from. Just to exaggerate: even a more-affordable Pentium G4560 (2-core/4-thread) would have higher effective gaming speeds than your current FX-8120 (8-core)...

Ah yes that CPU is old should i worry about upgrading the CPU first before the GPU? also I see your build has Intel very nice.
Any recommendation on the AMD side of CPU? Yes I am still very new to building PC, yes I understand the difference in performance between Intel and AMD.

Thanks!

Going for an RX 480 GPU, I'd personally get an i5-7500 for gaming (i7 if you wish to use your PC for multitasking too).

You can also purchase the GPU right away even if you have a weaker CPU (but, depending on the game you play and its graphics settings, you would really have to upgrade the CPU/MB/RAM very soon to take full advantage of the RX480's capabilities).

Yes I have been following the Ryzen news, yeah I am a AMD fan but if Ryzen cant follow through I may conciser the switch to Intel. Thanks for the help, off to do more research.
