Cannot merge HDD partitions

I've recently built my first PC, and used the HDD from my old PC and another old HDD I used externally.
The first one (Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM) from my old PC is split into C: and D:, however I want to merge these but the delete volume option is greyed out. I suspect this is because it says part of it is being used, but I have deleted all files from it.
So how do I merge it back into C:?

I also noticed E: (Seagate Barracuda 320GB 3.5") has 58.59GB of unallocated space, is there a way of merging this into the rest of the drive so I can actually use it?

I am using Windows 10

Better check your D: partition again; Disk Management indicates it contains nearly 20 GB of data. If (as you have indicated) you do not need this data then simply delete that partition creating "unallocated" disk-space formerly occupied by the D: partition. Then you can use Disk Management to extend your C: partition encompassing all that unallocated disk-space (if that's what your heart desires).

Since the E: partition is on a separate drive you would have to move that data to your "new" C: partition. I know no way of "merging" that data with the C: partition on your 500 GB boot drive.

I'm not sure what the data is, I have tried at hidden files and made sure C: hosts pagefiles, so not sure what all that data could be. I tried formatting it to see if that would wipe it but apparently programmes on D are in use? Is there any way of looking at what drive all processes are being run from?

I don't want to merge E with C so don't wory about that :)
