Hello, I currently have in my pc a 500gb HDD. Yesterday I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD.
I noticed that samsung brings a tool to migrate the SO with many other files from the HDD to the SSD: my question is: Is it better to use Data Migration or to make a clean installation of windows in the new drive?
I would need to ask more questions later when you tell me which is the best option.

Thanks

Solution
Best option by far is as mjslakeridge said, move data off drive, wipe drive, and move data back

If that is absolutely not an option you can delete the windows, program files and program data files and that will get rid of a large bulk of it.
I'm sorry, but thats BS.
Cloning makes exact copy of original data source. Nothing gets lost/corrupted. You are left with 2 exact copies. Even if one of those gets damaged, you still have second one.

Serriously, you are actually claiming that there is zero percent chance that when transfering TRILLIONS of bits (125 gigabyts = 1 terabit) of information that it is impossible for any of those to be read/write incorrectly??

Nothing will happen to the source drive but yes there is going to be a risk (small) that something wont copy correctly

Once i have windows running in the SSD beside of which method i used, how can i delete windows from the HDD? Is that possible or I must wipe the drive completely?

If you do decide to do a clean install of Windows on the new SSD (best option), make sure you disconnect the HDD until the install is complete, otherwise some boot files may get written to the HDD, and when you format it, the system may not boot. Just a quirk with Windows.
